The temporary D-Day exhibition will be 5th-13th June at The Heritage Centre, St Richard’s House.
On Thursday 6th June there is an official proclamation at 8:00am outside St Richard’s House with the Town Crier. The Heritage Centre will be open 10:00-7:30pm. From 6:00pm there will be 1940’s music entertainment, and a (2516) Droitwich Squadron Air Cadets display at 7:45pm.
From 9:00pm Dignitaries and Representatives (including Elected Members, local Royal British Legion members and veterans, Salvation Army, Droitwich 2516 Air Cadets Squadron members, Town Crier and officials) will meet at St Augustine’s Church.
9:05pm Announcements – including D Day Proclamation by Town Crier and Bugler.
9:15pm The International Tribute to be undertaken by Councillor AM Sinton – Mayor of Droitwich Spa. Also in attendance Councillor GA Duffy – Chairman of Wychavon District Council, Councillor Mrs CA Bowden – Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Town Council Community & Amenities Committee, and Consorts. Immediately followed by the illumination of the D-day 80 beacon. In celebration of the ‘light of peace’ that emerged out of the darkness of war. This event is part of the official national network chain of beacons to mark the special 80th anniversary of D Day- when Allied forces mounted the largest amphibious invasion the world has ever witnessed.
