DROITWICH SPA LITTER SQUAD COMMUNITY CLEAN UP – 9-16 AUGUST 2026
Come and join our sponsored litter pick to clean up Droitwich Spa. Litter pick anywhere in the Town, get the family involved! Our sponsored litter pick is more than just tidying up our town; it’s about bringing people together and raising funds to support the Mayor’s chosen charity: The Droitwich Lions.
By taking part you can:
- Improve our local environment
- Raise awareness about litter and waste
- Help raise funds
Ask friends, family and colleagues to pledge donations ahead of and during the event.

Alternatively, cash donations can be given in at the Heritage Centre, St Richard’s House, in a sealed envelope F.A.O The Town Clerk.
There will be some litter pickers (to loan) and blue bags available to collect at the Heritage Centre.

- Encourage others to organise their own litter picks
Please put photos on the Droitwich Spa Litter Squad Facebook page of what has been picked so that we can get a final count at the end. If you require any further information please drop a comment on the Litter Squad Facebook Page.
We will also be running a competition for a £50 prize to the person who guesses the correct (or nearest to) number of bags picked for the whole week! Answers should be put on the Facebook Page comments section.
HERE’S THE NECESSARY STUFF – LITTER PICK SAFETY CHECKLIST
Always ensure that gloves are worn. Do not handle waste without wearing gloves, avoid direct contact with litter.
Do not pick up items that cannot easily be identified/are clearly hazardous*
If you are picking close to roads it is sensible to wear a hi-viz vest.
Do not attempt to collect any fly tipping. Please report on the Litter Squad Facebook Page or direct to Wychavon Council on their website.
Avoid contact with the body when carrying plastic bags
Do not overfill bin bags and avoid lifting heavy objects.
When a bag is filled, tie it securely. Bags should be left in clear, visible piles for collection, preferably by bins and should not block any walkways.
If collected bags cannot be left by waste bins, please inform Wychavon Council on their website giving them the location or drop an email to wychavon@fccenvironment.co.uk
